Move Towards Anything You’re Resisting (Triggers)

September 4, 2026

When someone who’s highly traumatized tries to only think/feel positively, nine times out of ten they’ll develop some kind of an addiction because to a highly disregulated nervous system everything that would be good for them or offer better feeling circumstances is going to be really triggering. This is why it seems confusing to watch someone spiral with an addiction when it seems obvious that if they just respected themselves more and did more self-care they’d be in a higher vibration.

To the addicted person it feels like self-care is the lowest vibration of all because it triggers their nervous system too much to feel like they could even handle it. Obviously self-care and self-loving thoughts are some of the highest vibrations and would be the ‘high vibe’ choice, but to a highly traumatized person they feel like a low vibe choice. That’s why so many people don’t choose those healthy/healing things in the first place, to avoid the pain of it, so telling them to just choose higher vibrational thoughts will only increase the resistance to facing high vibrational things that will inevitably be tied to triggers that feel low vibrational to them (even though they’re technically good vibes).

Someone who’s always been in suffering/scarcity will be sooo triggered by thinking high vibrationally so it will feel like bad vibes to them (this applies to thoughts, decisions, actions, feelings, impulses etc.). That’s why we have to start phrasing it like “we heal by facing and processing triggers” instead.

If you can’t tell what type of triggers you need to experience, just start feeling into what your nervous system has the most resistance to and go towards that in small steps.

Remain open to the possibility that your ideologies could be objectively wrong. If something isn’t vibrationally working, don’t cling to it…. Let yourself be guided by Spirit.

If this landed somewhere, you might like a session or another note.
